Rhodes was lying
as a commercial centre between the East and the West and so
was inevitable to be influenced by all the political and economical
international developments during the years after The Hellenistic
Period: The Roman Years, The Middle Ages, the Renaissance
and the Modern Ages.
As a result, the inhabitants of Rhodes have now a long tradition
on local arts, such as jewelrys
- creations, ceramics,
carpet-making,
furs,
woodcarving and others. So, the visitor of Rhodes can find
a lot of craft creations among the hundreds of traditional
shops and workshops of the Island.
Banking and Shopping Hours
The Banks are open for the public Monday to Friday from
08:00 am to 14:00 hours. The shops are open Monday
to Friday 8:00am - 14:00 hours and 17:00 - 21:00 hours,
Saturday 9:00am - 14:30 hours, Sunday closed. However
at the tourist areas the shops are open on Sundays and
most evenings close at 23:00 hours.
